Kieran Culkin Revives His Lighthearted Feud with Pedro Pascal at the 2025 Golden Globes

Kieran Culkin has brought back his playful rivalry with Pedro Pascal at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, much to the delight of fans. The “Succession” star, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Real Pain, couldn’t resist poking fun at Pascal, who wasn’t nominated this year. Culkin’s cheeky comments during an appearance on Variety and Entertainment Tonight’s red carpet pre-show sparked laughs from the crowd.

“Is Pedro here tonight? Oh, he’s not? Sorry, Pedro, were you not nominated this year?” Culkin teased, laughing. “Maybe next year. When I won’t be.” The lighthearted jab continued the duo’s ongoing playful feud, which began last year during the Golden Globe Awards season.

Culkin, fresh off wins from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, appeared genuinely pleased with his nomination. Despite the jokes, he had nothing but praise for Pascal and their “Actors on Actors” co-star Colman Domingo, calling them “fantastic” and expressing a desire to collaborate with them in the future.

Their friendly feud began during the 2024 Golden Globes when Culkin won Best Actor in a TV Drama for his role in Succession. During his acceptance speech, he humorously recalled being nominated years ago, then added, “Suck it, Pedro!” while smiling. The broadcast cut to a confused Pascal, who had been nominated for his role in The Last of Us.

The joke continued to reverberate, especially after Pascal attended the Emmy Awards a few weeks later wearing a sling, claiming, “Kieran Culkin beat the shit out of me.” Of course, it was all in good fun, showcasing the bond between the two actors and their shared sense of humor.

This year, Culkin’s performance in A Real Pain not only earned him a Golden Globe nomination but also helped the film secure a nod for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. It’s clear that while Culkin’s rivalry with Pascal is all in jest, it’s also part of what makes awards season so entertaining.
