Shelby American Unleashes an 810-HP GT350 Powerhouse
Shelby American Brings Back the GT350 Name with an 810-HP Monster
Nearly six decades after Carroll Shelby introduced the world to the first Shelby GT350, Shelby American has resurrected the legendary name with a thrilling new version. However, this GT350 isn’t a Ford factory production—it’s crafted by Shelby American, a modern-day successor to Shelby’s original shop. Under the hood lies a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine, delivering an earth-shaking 810 horsepower in the standard GT350 and over 830 horsepower in the track-focused GT350R.
This modern GT350 lineup departs from the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter Voodoo engine found in the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350, which generated 526 horsepower. Shelby American has pushed the boundaries of performance, creating a machine that’s more powerful and built for serious enthusiasts.
Enhanced Design and Performance Features
The GT350 boasts aggressive styling, with a redesigned front fascia featuring intakes, grilles, and a vented hood. A prominent rear wing emphasizes the car’s aerodynamic focus, while suspension tweaks and a new exhaust system elevate both performance and handling.
Buyers can opt for a naturally aspirated 480-horsepower GT350 or upgrade to the supercharged version. Shelby American offers both manual and automatic transmissions, catering to drivers with varied preferences.
GT350R: A Track-Ready Beast
For track enthusiasts, the GT350R offers an even more exhilarating experience. With over 830 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission, this street-legal track car is equipped with advanced features like adjustable suspension, upgraded brakes, and a robust aerodynamic package.
The GT350R’s interior is equally race-focused, with a carbon-fiber tub, optional carbon-fiber racing seats, and a roll cage. Many of its components will feature in an upcoming Trans Am-spec race car, set to debut in the 2026 series.
Limited Production and Availability
Shelby American will produce 562 units of the GT350 for 2025, matching the production numbers from the original 1965 GT350. The supercharged GT350 starts at $109,999 and will be sold through select Ford dealerships, with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty included. Production kicks off in the second quarter of the year.
Meanwhile, only 36 units of the GT350R will be built by Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports, mirroring the production count from 1965. The GT350R will come exclusively in white, with optional stripe and graphic packages. Pricing for the GT350R has yet to be announced.
