Genesis Reinvents the GV60 EV as a Snow-Ready Rescue Machine
The GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle, a bold concept, transforms the luxury SUV into an extreme off-roader with snowmobile tracks and cutting-edge rescue equipment.
Genesis Unveils GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle for Snowy Terrain
Snow-covered roads and icy landscapes inspired Genesis’s latest creation, the GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle (MIV), which debuted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This innovative concept takes the brand’s compact electric luxury SUV and outfits it with a set of rugged snowmobile tracks, boosting ground clearance and enabling the vehicle to tackle the toughest winter conditions.
Designed for all-terrain rescue missions, the GV60 MIV sports an eye-catching, high-visibility orange-striped exterior that screams functionality and flair. The tank-style tracks extend beyond the vehicle’s standard bodywork, necessitating carbon-fiber fender flares for a striking yet purposeful look. These tracks provide exceptional traction on snow and ice, ensuring the GV60 can navigate where traditional wheels fail.
Beyond its unique drivetrain, the concept boasts a custom roof rack complete with an integrated light bar, making it perfect for nighttime operations. An additional rear-mounted rack accommodates extra gear, further enhancing its utility. Inside, Genesis equips the MIV with sports seats for stability during rugged rides and stocks it with medical supplies, emergency communication tools, and warning systems, ensuring readiness for critical situations.
As an electric vehicle, the GV60 MIV brings an added advantage: its vehicle-to-load (V2L) system allows the SUV’s battery to power auxiliary devices in the field. This makes it a self-sufficient tool for rescue teams operating in remote or hazardous environments.
This isn’t Genesis’s first winter-themed concept. At last year’s Davos convention, the automaker showcased the X Snow Speedium, a coupe modified with a ski rack and auxiliary fog lamps. However, the GV60 MIV represents a more extreme vision of snow capability, emphasizing Genesis’s creativity and design innovation. While it won’t hit dealerships, the GV60 MIV illustrates the brand’s potential for adapting luxury EVs to unique challenges and use cases.
