Next-Gen Dodge Charger Daytona Police Cruiser Concept Could Include an Electric Model

A New Era for Dodge’s Police Fleet

The Dodge Charger has long been a staple in law enforcement fleets, but currently, Dodge Law—the Stellantis division specializing in police vehicles—does not offer it as part of its lineup. Presently, options include the Dodge Durango AWD with a Pentastar V-6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, the Jeep Wagoneer L equipped with the Hurricane twin-turbo I-6, the Ram 1500 Special Service Vehicle, and a range of Ram HD trucks. The Durango remains the sole pursuit-rated model. However, Dodge Law recently teased a bold new concept: an all-electric Charger Daytona police cruiser, adorned with the signature fratzog logo signaling the automaker’s EV future.

It’s essential to note that this Charger Daytona police cruiser is currently a concept. Beyond the teaser, details remain sparse. Dodge is making waves with its electric muscle sedan, so an EV police version isn’t unexpected. However, whether the concept will evolve into a production vehicle or coexist alongside internal combustion versions remains unclear.

Dodge has always maintained a strong connection between high-performance pursuit vehicles and the muscle car community. Iconic models like the Fox-body Mustang SSP and Chevrolet Caprice PPV exemplify how LEO-specific cars gain broader cultural appeal. Dodge’s pursuit-rated Chargers, like the outgoing AWD Hemi-powered Charger Pursuit with a minimalist interior, reinforced this link.

The next-gen Charger Daytona, regardless of its configuration, promises power to spare. The R/T trim delivers 456 horsepower, while the Scat Pack variant boasts 630 horsepower. Additionally, the Power Shot boost feature—though its suitability for law enforcement is uncertain—adds a compelling twist. Equipped with a 100.5-kWh battery, the electric variant may offer a range suitable for police operations, pending acceptance testing outcomes.

A Fresh Chapter for Police Muscle Cars

Dodge’s electrified approach to its next-gen Charger Daytona police concept signals a transformative shift. If realized, it could redefine the role of EVs in law enforcement, blending performance with sustainability.

Dodge is reimagining the police cruiser with its next-gen Charger Daytona concept. The teased model, possibly an electric vehicle, could combine bold performance with sustainability, reflecting the brand’s muscle car heritage.
